Methods:Subjects were treated with a total daily dose of 5 mg finasteride (Propecia®) (Pfizer) for 6 months, before finasteride treatment. Serum prope-o levels of serum prope-o were measured at the time of finasteride treatment and after 6 months of treatment in a double-blind manner. The study was approved by the Institutional Review Board of the University of Basel (IRB/IRB-1512-071-31).

However, there was a significant increase in serum prope-o levels after 6 months of finasteride therapy in patients receiving a total daily dose of 5 mg finasteride. There were no changes in serum prope-o levels after 6 months of finasteride therapy in any of the male subjects studied. A significant increase in serum prope-o levels was observed in both the Propecia® and the placebo groups. Finasteride treatment significantly increased serum prope-o levels in both the Propecia® and the placebo groups. The Propecia® group also had a significantly higher level of serum prope-o compared to the placebo group. These results suggest that finasteride treatment significantly increased serum prope-o levels in male patients with BPH.
Conclusion:Finasteride treatment significantly increased serum prope-o levels in male patients with BPH. It may be recommended that finasteride be used with caution in patients with BPH.
Finasteride (Propecia®) - a drug used to treat BPH.ABSTRACT
BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia) is a common form of BPH, which is characterized by frequent and progressive enlargement of the prostate gland. It occurs when the prostate gland becomes enlarged due to an enlarged prostate gland and the prostate gland shrinks to the point of causing prostatic cancer. Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the most common cause of BPH and can be effectively treated with finasteride and other available medications. It is believed that finasteride decreases the size of the prostate and decreases the volume of the enlarged prostate gland. It is thought that finasteride may decrease the growth of the prostate in patients with BPH. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of oral finasteride on serum prope-o levels in male patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
